The ROV is just a tool for collecting data, whether that is visual or NDT sensors it remains a tool.
We have frequently deployed the ROV’s temporarily connected to a lifting eye with recovery line (lock & latch) for recovery of objects on the seabed. Once the hook is connected the ROV releases and moves away, ready for a vessel crane / winch to start hoisting.
No lifting points? We can thread dynema recovery lines through structures on the seabed, catch it on the other side and bring the line back to the surface for lifting.
These approaches have been used time and again. If you’re recovering a cable connector, our Naval Architects can even provide the operations team with lay tables for cable recovery to ensure bend radii and cable tensions are carefully controlled.
