Green Marine UK’s flagship vessel, Green Isle, has successfully achieved certification under the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s (MCA) new Workboat Code Edition 3 – becoming one of the first 10% of workboats to meet the standard.
This prestigious certification confirms Green Isle’s status as one of the most advanced and safety-compliant multi-role workboats operating in UK waters.
Workboat Code Edition 3, introduced by the MCA to improve safety and performance standards across the industry, is the most comprehensive and rigorous update to workboat regulation in over a decade. It applies to vessels under 24 metres in load line length that operate commercially, and covers vital areas such as structural integrity, stability, lifesaving equipment, and pollution prevention.
“Securing this certification underscores our long-standing commitment to maritime safety, innovation, and operational excellence,” said Jason Schofield, Managing Director of Green Marine. “We are proud to be in the first wave of vessel operators leading the industry through this important regulatory transition. As offshore activity increases, particularly in support of renewable energy infrastructure, the need for safe, capable, and compliant vessels is more critical than ever.”
Green Isle is a multi-purpose, shallow-draft workboat designed to support a wide range of offshore operations, including subsea surveys, cable lay assistance, UXO support, dive operations, and renewable energy installation services. Her robust design, advanced safety systems, and flexible deck configuration make her uniquely suited to the complex and demanding environments found around the UK coastline.
Workboat Code 3 certification is part of Green Marine’s broader company strategy to continually upgrade its fleet and align operations with evolving national and international standards for marine safety, environmental protection, and offshore project support.
