Pelamis
Green Marine were contracted to decommissioning one of the first generation wave energy converter, Pelamis.
In order to achieve this the engineering team first assessed the structure of the device and specified the optimal cut points in order to maintain loads which could be easily transported by road for final dismantling. Once this was decided the team designed grillages for setting the WEC on while it was being cut.
Green Marine’s GM700 gantry barge was used to lift sections of the device following initial subsea cuts. These sections were then placed on the GM1100 flat top barge. Once the final cuts had taken place, the smaller sections were transported by the Green Isle, to a suitable quayside for offloading onto road transport.
All materials were responsibly disposed of and the end clients received the approved waste.
